Virginia B. McCartin of Frederick Living in Zieglerville and formerly of Reading passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on May 6, 2025. She was 75 years old. Born in Philadelphia she was the daughter of the late John and Isabelle (Tayoun) Bieger and the loving wife of Joseph P. McCartin.

Virginia attended Manor College and later earned her bachelor's degree from the University of West Florida. She was a kindergarten teacher at Holy Guardian Angels for 30 years until her retirement. She enjoyed reading, going to concerts, volunteering, and traveling with her family. She played basketball, loved the Phillies, and took up boxing and pickleball in her 70s. Most especially, she loved spending time with the people in her life. Ginny loved Pope Francis and will be remembered by all who knew her as a champion for social justice.

In addition to her husband of 49 years, she is survived by her son, Daniel McCartin (Lisa) of Reading; daughter, Jennifer McCartin (Maribel Martinez) of San Francisco, CA; brother, George Bieger; sister, Denise Jones; grandchildren Nathan and Maira McCartin; and many nieces, nephews, and friends.

A Memorial Mass will be held at Holy Guardian Angels Roman Catholic Church, 121 Kutztown Road, Reading, PA 19605, on Saturday, August 9, 2025 at 10:30am.  A visitation will be held in church from 9:30am-10:20am prior to Mass. Interment private. In lieu of flowers, donations in Virginia's name are requested to the Lewy Body Association.
