Obituary

Susan Benatti, 59, passed away on July 19th, 2026 after a three year long battle with Lung and Brain Cancer.

She was born in Quakertown, Pennsylvania and was the youngest of six children in the Hufnagle family.

She is predeceased by her parents, Charles and Alice Hufnagle, and her old brother Charles (Chuck) Hufnagle. She was survived by her four daughters Samantha Burton (Husband Shane), Valerie Benatti, Isabella Horani, Charolotte Horani, and her granddaughter Adelaide Hurt.

She was also survived by her partner Majdi Horani, her sisters Alicia Schlosser, Ann Clemens (Husband Douglas), Theresa Lex (Husband Kenneth), Cynthia Byndas (Husband Sean), and her sister-in-law Patricia Hufnagle.

With her bright-eyes and infectious smile, Susan was well-known among many in her home town Harleysville, Pennsylvania, where she wen to Lansdale Catholic High School. She was very involved in school, such as writing the school newspaper, cheering, and attending class with many life long friends.

Susan was always a Jersey Girl at heart. She loved soaking up the sun and reading a book by the waves on the beach. From childhood family trips that turned into adulthood traditions, the shore was always special to her. Susan achieved her lifelong dream and moved to Cape May in 2017 and had some of her happiest years living there.

Not only did Susan achieve her dream of living in Cape May, but she also achieve many other accomplishments such as: earning her Associates Degree in Fashion Merchandising at Harcum College, raising a family, and starting a new career and working with her mother, Alice Hufnagle, in real estate.

Her passion for sales and houses really allowed her to shine. She had a very successful career, and was considered the number one performer in the Montgomery County Board of Realtors, while working at the Dager and Dager branch of ERA real estate.

Susan was a beloved mother who raised her two daughters Samantha Burton and Valerie Benatti with then husband Edward Benatti. She then reinvented herself and raised two more daughters Isabella Horani and Charlotte Horani with partner Majdi Horani.

In 2023, while she was working as a waitress at Dock Mike’s Pancake House in Cape May, New Jersey, she discovered that she had a small-cell stage three Lung Cancer, which later spread to her brain. Despite her struggles, she spent most of the last three years of her life working to support her family, and braved through the various chemotherapy and radiation appointments so she could be with her daughters as long as possible.

If anyone knew Susan, they would all say the same thing: she had the most fun personality, the strongest will-power, and the most beautiful heart. Even when she was struggling, she would not hesitate to put others before herself. She was beloved by many, and she will forever be missed.

Relatives and friends are invited to a memorial Mass on September 4th, 2026, at 10:30am at St. Stanislaus Roman Catholic Church, 51 Lansdale Ave., Lansdale, PA 19446. A visitation will precede the Mass at 9:30am at the church.

Susan was the financial and emotional backbone of her family and leaves behind two very young daughters who have college ambitions. If you would like to help Susan’s girls continue with their schooling we have linked a go fund me for them. In Memory of Susan: Aid for Her Daughters
