Meryl Barbara (Gander) Hansell, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, went home to be with the Lord on June 10, 2026, at the age of 75.
Born on April 11, 1951, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, she was the daughter of the late David H. and Lillian E. (Chaims) Gander. She was also the loving wife of the late Robert Cunningham Hansell, who passed away on May 2, 2025.
Meryl graduated from George Washington High School in Philadelphia, and at a young age ventured across the country to California. She returned to the Philadelphia area and started a family with husband, Robert. Settling in Pennsburg, Pennsylvania, they together developed a little homestead beginning in 1979, where she resided for the remainder of her life. She was happiest when surrounded by her family and friends who will remember her always for her warmth, humor, and good character. She played a constant and cherished role in their lives, creating memories that they will carry forever. She was known to her grandchildren as “Grammy”.
A devoted homemaker, Meryl enjoyed sewing and quilting, often gifting her projects to others. Meryl was a life-long Phillies fan. She was a dedicated follower of Jesus Christ and an avid reader of theology. She co-authored and published three books on the topic of Christian doctrine. Meryl was ordained as a Minister in 2004 and she gladly served the Lord as a prayer counselor specializing in theophostic methods for 25 years, sharing her knowledge of the Bible with many individuals who she led to a more abundant life and personal healing.
Meryl worked as a secretary for New Life Youth and Family Services in Schwenksville, Pennsylvania for 23 years and Montgomery County IM4Q as a Monitor for 10 years.
Meryl is survived by her four children: Noah Hansell (Midori), Joy Anna Sands (David), Matthew Hansell (Allyson), and Meghan Carr (Timothy); eight grandchildren: Sedona, Nikito, Abigail, Christian, Lily, Elliot, Sarah, and Liam. In addition, she is survived by her four step-children: Gwendolyn Hendry (Christopher), Jennifer Knox, Leif Hansell, and Valerie Swartz; six step-grandchildren: Emma, Sophia, John, Benjamin, Amanda, and Kyle; and three step-great-grandchildren.
