John I. McHugh, Sr.  "Jack" of Southampton and Ocean City, NJ peacefully passed away Thursday, June 28, 2018 surrounded by his family at the age of 90.  Jack had an extraordinary life filled with family, lifelong friends and thousands of people who loved him. He was the third of eleven children born to Frank and Anna McHugh of Pennsauken, NJ on June 22, 1928.  He met the love of his life, Irene Grace, when he was 16 and they remained together for the next 74 years.  They began their family with the birth of their son, Jack Jr., and were later blessed with two daughters, Kim and Sue.

Jack was an "insurance man" who after graduating worked at the career he loved until he retired. He served his country in the Naval Reserve.  He was appointed Grand Knight of the Knights of Columbus. Jack was past president of the Leisuretowne Bike Club, Golf Association and volunteered for TOUCH.  He was a Civil Mediator in the Burlington County Court System until early 2018.

Jack is survived by the love of his life, Irene Grace McHugh, his daughters, Kim McHugh Miller (Kirk) and Suzanne Irene McHugh Turpin (Jim) and his daughter-in-law Donna Smick McHugh.  He leaves behind his grandsons Jeff McHugh (Megan), Todd McHugh (Emily), Kyle and Logan Miller and his granddaughters, Alexi Miller and Kathleen, Allison, Erin and Megan Turpin.  Jack and Irene have 5 great grandchildren.   His children and grandchildren brought him the greatest joy throughout his lifetime.

Family and friends are invited to a funeral mass celebrating Jack's life on Tuesday, July 3, 2018 at 10:00am at Our Lady of Good Counsel Church, 40 ^th St. and Asbury Ave., Ocean City, NJ 08226.  In lieu of flowers, donations in Jack's name are requested to JDRF or Saint John of God Community Services .
